1. An Introduction to Sarah Brewer

Dr Sarah Brewer graduated from Cambridge University as a doctor in 1983. She was a full-time GP for five years and has worked in hospital medicine for almost 15 years, specialising in sexual health. She is currently on sabbatical from seeing patients while studying for a Masters degree in Nutritional Medicine at the University of Surrey, Guildford.

Although her first love is medicine, her major passion is writing. Sarah writes widely on all aspects of health, including complementary medicine and the safe use of vitamin, mineral and herbal supplements. She has written over 40 popular health books, regularly appears on television and radio, and was voted Health Journalist of the Year 2002.

Having worked as a GP in an inner city area, she has seen how nutritional deficiency affects people’s long-term health. She is fully committed to the safe, sensible use of nutritional supplements as, without doubt, few people get all the vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids they need from their food.

Sarah acts as a medical advisor to:

  • Tesco Healthy Living Club
  • The Toxic Shock Syndrome Information Service
  • Absorbent Hygiene Products Manufacturers Association
  • The British International Spa Association (BISA)
  • YorkTest Laboratories
