National
Bed Month: 1st - 31st March |
March
is National Bed Month - where we not only stop
to think about what we are sleeping on, but also how well we are
sleeping. A good night's sleep is paramount to optimum health, not
least because it helps maintain internal balance.
How well we
sleep affects everything from our fertility
levels to how rapidly the effects
of ageing appear. According to the Journal of the American
Medical Association, good sleeping habits boost
the immune system, and are crucial in the management of Parkinson's
disease, Alzheimer's,
Multiple
Sclerosis (MS), Behavioural
disorders, and intestinal
problems.

What's
not! - Ovarian Cancer |
The
month of March brings with it a joint Ovarian Cancer Awareness
Campaign, led by the two national charities, WellBeing
of Women and Ovarian Cancer Action (HHMT).
The aim of the
campaign is to raise awareness about ovarian cancer while generating
funds for much-needed research. Around 7,000 women in the UK are
diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year - and with only a 30%
survival rate (breast cancer survival is around 70%), more
research is vital in order to help understand, diagnose, treat and
prevent this silent disease.
Request
your free Ovarian Cancer leaflet by emailing info@ovarian.org.uk
or send an A5 SAE marked "Ovarian Cancer" to WellBeing
of Women, 27 Sussex Place, Regent's Park, London, NW1 4SP.
