| So, instead of passing
information about your health queries back and forth via email,
we are going to set up a new Message Board where you can post all
your questions and where we will be inviting a range of experts
to help advise you on your health concerns. This new function will
be live within the next month, so do make sure you use it. This
way everyone can benefit from the work we’ve been doing behind
the scenes and it will help keep the site interactive and busy.
See you on board soon!
Best wishes, Susan
The
Monday night chats (8pm, GMT) mean
we are getting to talk to more of you in person. If you've not tried
it, come on line with your questions and comments. Again, we've
refined the technology to make the system more efficient. Note:
there will be NO live chats on Monday April 14th
or Monday April 21st since people are away on Easter
holidays.

Top Tips! |
Antioxidants
Antioxidants are continuously written about as the ‘goodies’
within our diet, the nutrients that protect the body from free radical
damage (scavenging molecules that bind with and destroy the proteins
in body cells) following strenuous exercise, as a result of junk
diets, and exposure to environmental pollutants.
Scientists measure antioxidant potency in units known as Oxygen
Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC), and many already know that vitamins
A, C and E have good antioxidant qualities and can be taken
in supplement form, but many foods also provide an excellent source
of antioxidants and the top rated antioxidant foods are not always
the most obvious – as you’ll see!
The following are rated per 100g (3.5oz) serving:
- prunes (5770)
- raisins (2830)
- blueberries (2400)
- blackberries (2036)
- strawberries (1540)
- raspberries (1220)

Beat chocolate cravings |
Ayurvedic
medicine, as many already know, follows the ancient
Indian 'science of life', which combines nutrition,
herbalism, yoga, meditation, and massage to maintain the balance
of good health.
The theory is that we all have all three energy types - Pitta
(fire constitution), Vata (air constitution) and
Kapha (water constitution) - that in perfect health
are all balanced… But sometimes we need a little help in the
balancing!
One of the best sources of information on the Ayurvedic principles
of health, and constitutional types, is the website for Pukka herbs
and teas at www.pukkaherbs.com
Once you know your type, you can then buy a delicious powdered
spice flavouring called a churna that you sprinkle
over your food to make sure you are getting all the tastes in a
meal that your type needs. Satisfying your taste needs means you
will suffer less, if at all, from cravings for chocolate or any
other sweets.
Susan’s recommendation for churna spices are from the Maharishi
Ayur-Veda range, from The
Nutri Centre.

TURMERIC - KITCHEN HERB OR AYURVEDIC
HEALER? |
Culinary herbs do more than just stimulate your taste buds! Some,
such as turmeric are also strong, natural medicines. As an anti-inflammatory,
digestive aid, antioxidant and
antiseptic, the value of turmeric has long been recognised
in Eastern medicine and is now becoming acknowledged in the West.
In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, turmeric is seen as an excellent
natural antibiotic that also strengthens
digestion and helps improve intestinal flora.
The herb is a symbol of prosperity and is considered a cleansing
agent for the whole body. According to this ancient method of natural
healing, turmeric encourages efficient metabolism as it corrects
both excesses and deficiencies. Respiratory ailments such as coughs
and asthma, circulation, and digestion
all benefit from the warming properties of turmeric. Interestingly
it is also thought to help the digestion of protein, possibly because
its bitter flavour encourages the flow of digestive juices.

PAIN EASE PATCH |
Pain Ease Patch is a drug-free, medically tested breakthrough
in pain relief technology. It consists of two small patches applied
on either side of the painful area, between which a constant, low-level
micro-electric current is generated. By restoring a normal flow
of blood and oxygen, the current stimulates the body's natural healing
process, while also reducing pain and any swelling.
The patch contains a tiny integrated battery, which lasts up to
500 hours. A small glowing red light indicates that the patch is
working.
Unlike orthodox painkillers, this method of pain relief is without
side-effects, and won’t interact with any other medication,
natural or otherwise. Beneficial for all the family, it is effective
in the relief of pain associated with endometriosis,
dysmenorrhea (painful periods), arthritis,
stiff joints, muscle spasms and sports
injuries.
Pain Ease Patch costs £24.95 and full information is available
at Lifes2Good
or from 0845 602 1632.

STRENGTHEN YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM |
However fit and well we think we are, there are always times –
for some, more often than others if prone to persistent infections
or ill-health - BioBran MGN-3 was developed in Japan in the early
1990s and has since become a leading immune system supplement.
Now used worldwide, BioBran is not only extremely effective (increasing
NK cell activity by as much as 300% or more) but it is completely
non-toxic and suffers from none of the usual tail-off or hypo-responsiveness
seen with similar supplements.
Visit www.biobran.org to find
out more about this supplement. Or contact The
Really Healthy Company on 020 8480 1000 to order Biobran MGN-3.
